The Jooste Cylinder and Pump Co (Pty) Ltd was founded in 1967 to develop a patent registered by Mr Christie Jooste with the main objective to relieve the laborious work required by windmill in order to pump water from great depths in boreholes.

Mr Jooste, a borehole driller at the time, had the vision to develop a borehole pump using a cylinder that delivered more water, while using less power compared to the traditional brass cylinder.

After years of experimenting the first stainless steel cylinder was manufactured in 1989 with modern and revolutionary materials.

The cylinder was improved using the feedback and experience with the product received from the customers. These contribute to the excellent product we have today, a product that requires considerably less energy to operate, and resulting in less stress on pumping equipment and saving farmers millions.

This magnificent product has been the winner of multiple awards, of which the most notable the Cullinan Award for Good Engineering in 1993. In the course of time Christie Jooste was awarded another five Cullinan Awards for creative inventions.
